In 2014, the Tormore distillery in Speyside released this 16 year old single malt Scotch whisky (as well as a 14 year oldexpression). It's matured in bourbon barrels and bottled without chill-filtration at a robust 48% ABV. Rich with orange oil, golden barley and melon notes, the Tormore 16 is a great evening dram - exciting and well balanced with an enjoyable intensity behind it.
Nose:
Hobnob biscuits, vanilla essence, ripe pear and a good core of spiced oak.
Palate:
Cinnamon spice and pepper appear on palate entry, swiftly balanced with orange oil, juicy melon and crunchy red apple.
Finish:
Warming and sweet with continuing notes of cinnamon and vanilla cream.
