Old & Rare, 16 Year Old French Oak , Cask Nº TD0346

A luxurious winter warmer: honeyed, spiced, and complex, with signature notes of anise, herbs, and citrus flowing beautifully throughout.

Old & Rare French Oak Second-Fill

Single cask TD0346 was distilled in December of 2008 and decanted in February of 2025, aged in a single 300L French oak second-fill cask for 16 years. Bottled at 47.3% ABV, this cask yielded only 447 bottles.

Second-fill casks allow for long-term maturation without being overtaken by the influence of oak or pre-fill. The result is a whisky of perfect balance: our signature spirit character harmonises seamlessly with the soft oak profile, allowing the fruity esters from our copper alembic still, Myrtle, to shine through. In addition to the notes of dark jammy berries, aromatic spice and bright fruit, these whiskies exhibit a depth and refinement that can only come from age.

As single cask bottlings, every tiny batch is different, expressing the unique characteristics of each barrel. Each bottle comes in a handmade, solid oak presentation box, and includes a letter from our Distillery Manager.

TASTING NOTES

Nose - An inviting array of honeycomb and maple syrup sets the stage, intertwined with the soft spice of whole coriander seed and the depth of Assam tea. Pimento and dried orange peel lend a layered complexity, while a playful touch of green jelly weaves through. A broad, buttery note rounds out the aroma, hinting at a luxurious texture to come.

Palate - A sweet, gently structured tannin reminiscent of a well-made sweet espresso greets the palate. Vanilla bean paste unfurls alongside honey muffins and candied fruits, brightened by orange peel. The palate’s confection section plays like an orchestra: cola, sherbet, and glacé cherry - all in harmony.

Finish - A seamless transition from confection to a waxy texture with a gentle tannin edge. The finish lingers with beautiful length, carrying black tea, cardamom, and cinnamon, while caramelised banana - in butter and brown sugar - takes centre stage. Notes of macadamia nuts and honey add further depth, while a touch of cayenne, without the heat, adds an intriguing final flourish.
