DESCRIPTION
Macallan 1987 18 Years, a delicious 100% sherried Macallan bursting with complexity throughout its multi-layered palate. The trademark distillery citrus is to the fore, along with soft balanced spices.
TASTING NOTESĀ
Colour: pale amber. Nose: much closer to
Nose: much closer to the 1976, much less sherried than the 1983, with also farmier, wilder notes but also something slightly dirty and cardboardy. Donāt get me wrong, these notes that are usually bad news bring an extra-dimension to the malt. A Mac 18 thatās much less āde salonā and much more from the countryside.Ā
Mouth: kind of a mixture of both the 1976 and the 1983, but itās maybe a tad too simple. Fresher than the 1983, more sherried and āthickerā than the 1976, but maybe lacking definition. Especially the finish is a bit indefinite I think, even if thereās quite some liquorice this time. At the crossroads? 86 points.
