Isle Of Harris The Hearach ABV 46% 700ml

The Whisky Shop Singapore

Founded in 2015, the Isle of Harris distillery, known for its gin, is equipped with eight Oregon pine washbacks, a 7,000-liter wash still, and a 5,000-liter spirit still. Slightly peated (12 to 14 ppm of phenols), the single malt it has been crafting since December 2015 and is being released for the first time this year bears the name of the island’s inhabitants: The Hearach. Overflowing with naturalness, this version lives to the rhythm of peat melded into the beautiful green, fruity, and malty tones of its aromatic and gustatory palette.

Colour : Green gold.

Nose : Fine, fresh. Menthol, aniseed, and lightly peated, the nose is dazzling with herbal freshness (cut hay, green barley), enhanced by pure chlorophyll fragrances. Then, the aromatic palette opens up to a fruity register (green apple).

Palate : Rich, substantial. The palate’s initial impression conjures a barley field while a hint of peat and salt settles on the tongue. Subsequently, spices (clove, pepper) add depth to a mid-palate that evolves towards barley and parsley flavors.

Finish : Long, serene. Subtle licorice-tinged peat notes gently envelop the taste buds while herbaceous flavors (fresh green beans) make their appearance. The aftertaste is marked by particularly expressive green tea notes.

Profile : Nuanced and intense.
