To “e” or not to “e”?

Rule of thumb,

Countries without an “e” such as Scotland, Canada and Japan in their name tend to spell it ‘Whisky’.

Countries with an “e” such as Ireland, Singapore and United States in their name tend to spell it ‘Whiskey’.

But to keep things simple, why waste time on an extra alphabet when you can drink?
