DESCRIPTION

The burgeoning whisky Japanese industry has been largely attributed to its two founding fathers: Shinjiro Torii and Masataka Taketsuru.

Shinjiro established the Suntory brand, founding the first distillery in Japan in 1923, Yamazaki in the Vale of Yamazaki. Taketsuru founded Yoichi on Hokkaido eleven years later. Today, Japanese whiskies are becoming increasingly popular and in a style of their own.

Yamazaki 12 Year Old Single Malt

The whisky was introduced to the market in 1984 and was the first seriously marketed Japanese single malt whisky. By now, it is an internationally coveted whisky, winning award after award, and having been named by Jim Murray as being the best whisky in the world.

Kura 12 Years Awamori Rice Whisky

Exceptionally hand crafted Okinawa Awamori reserved in selected American white oak cask for 12 years. Awamori was made from best quality Indica rice and Unique Okinawa's black Koji mode and it was carefully and slowly distilled and the undiluted spirit laid down in cask for long years. Complex aroma and mellow taste bring whisky lovers to a different and new concept of single malt whisky.

Nikka Coffey Grain

A release of grain whisky from Japan's Nikka, produced mainly from corn using one of their continuous Coffey stills. Rather than the rare and limited releases they have done before, this is a larger release to further show off this key component in the Nikka family of whiskies.

Nikka From The Barrel

This strong Japanese blend aged in bourbon barrels comes from the blend of two Nikka single malts — Miyagikyo and Yoichi — and a single grain whisky. Nikka from the Barrel was chosen best Japanese blended whisky under 12 years old at the World Whiskies Awards 2007

Yamazaki 12

  • Nose: Peach, pineapple, grapefruit, clove, candied orange, vanilla, Mizunara (Japanese oak)
  • Palate: Coconut, cranberry, butter
  • Finish: Sweet ginger, cinnamon, long finish

    Nikka Coffey Grain

    • Nose: Bourbon-like vanilla and corn notes with a herbal hint of Chamomile.
    • Palate: Sweet, fruity flavours of melon, grapefruit and thick syrup, balanced by crunchy biscuits and fresh vanilla.
    • Finish: The corn notes, sweet and vibrant, last on the finish.

    Nikka From The Barrel

    • Nose: Refined, complex. Floral, fruity. Spicy and leathery notes
    • Palate: Powerful, firm. Spicy. Oaky. Develop into ripe fruit, caramelised apple and flower
    • Finish: Long. Marine notes. Ripe fruit over a wood-vanilla base
