DESCRIPTION

Nicknamed 'the seadragon' due to the mythical beast adorning the rather pretty black ceramic bottle and box, this 30 year old Bowmore appeared in the mid 1990s and has achieved almost mythic status itself, being made up entirely of long-aged casks from the legendary 1960s vintages. A magnificent dram, bursting with rich tropical flavours - one of the all-time classics from this distillery.

TASTING NOTES (by Whiskyfun.com)

Bowmore 30 Years - Sea Dragon Ceramic

Colour: light amber. Nose: tropical fruits again, but slightly oxidised ones. No so demonstrative, but still impressive – and very elegant and refined. Lots of citrus, but some apricot and melon. Whiffs of smoke, getting coastal. Mouth: quite creamy and coating, with lots of fruit liqueurs, some quince jelly, kiwi juice, lemon seeds. Some lemon zest that sort of structures the whole. Very nice bitterness. Slightly watery, but in a nice way, especially the finish. This one would have needed 3% more alcohol; it lacks just a little oomph. 91 points.

Bowmore 30 Years - Sea Dragon Ceramic (Asian Market)

Short notes: The nose is balanced, with quite some peat and some chilli, together with the usual passion fruit and some hints of wet hay but not much else. Rather disappointing, lacking complexity. The mouth is quite okay at first sip but too weak and getting too sweetish (liquorice allsorts). 84 point, yet, for the simple, but rather nice nose.
