Ichiro's Malt Chichibu The Peated 2022 Limited Edition ABV 53.50% 700ml

After a four-year hiatus, it’s finally back! Most of Chichibu’s current production is unpeated, using Norfolk barley. A peated new-make, however, is produced during the last month before maintenance season starts. The previous release was bottled in 2018 for the 10th anniversary of Chichibu, and again, this limited release has been matured in ex-Bourbon barrels for between five and seven years and bottled at cask strength (53%).

This exciting new single malt from one of Japan’s very best distilleries is set to revitalize an outstanding series that many thought had gone for good, and as such, it’s set to be a highly sought after and hugely collectable release. Only 11,000 bottles produced

Colour : Pale gold.

Nose : A start on light peat and a sweet custard. Notes of black tea and fruit (peach, apricot, orange) intensify the aromatic experience.

Palate : The Chichibu distillery dried the malt by burning peat under the kiln, providing a rich smoky profile. Notes of ripe fruit and stone fruit bring a nice complexity with a predominance of apple. A hint of salt and vanilla balances the power of the peat.
